The company was founded on March 1st 1971 as H Denys Barron Consulting Engineer. A limited company was formed in 1999 and the firm is presently trading as Barron & Partners Ltd.

The practice currently employs 10 staff and carries out a wide range of structural and civil design work. It is anticipated that the company will continue its present rate of growth and staff numbers are anticipated to rise over the next few years.

We work with clients to provide services ranging from investigation of potential sites to detailed structural design of multi-storey buildings including foundations. Structural design can be carried out in all materials including steel, reinforced concrete, timber and load bearing masonry. The firm can also carry out the design of site infrastructure including retaining walls, drainage and access roads.

The practice carries out Structural Engineer's Reports on domestic properties, for domestic clients and at the request of loss adjusters acting on behalf of insurance companies. The company specialises in this area of work, carrying out structural investigation and remedial works on a wide range of commercial and domestic property for private clients as well as loss adjusters and insurance companies. This work usually involves the design and contract administration of schemes involving underpinning, structural repairs and other remedial and redecoration works.

Barron and Partners are regularly involved in domestic property alterations. The Practice will design loft conversions, lintels for doorway or other openings, and steel beams to replace load-bearing walls. If required to do so, we will obtain the necessary Planning and Building Regulation approval. One off structural designs for substantial private houses are also carried out for local architects and developers.

The firm also carries out site investigation work on behalf of clients and can carry out environmental contamination surveys on brown field sites.

The firm has for over 20 years carried out checking of structural calculations for local Councils on Building Regulation applications.

Timber design has been a speciality over the years, usually as advisor to Timber & Glulam manufacturers or suppliers. The company is a registered NHBC certifier for timber framed housing.

The company has designed several Yacht Harbours. Completed projects include Mercury Yacht Harbour on the river Hamble, Mayflower Marina at Plymouth and Troon Marina in Ayrshire. Numerous feasibility studies have also been carried out. The firm currently acts as a consultant providing designs for pontoon mooring systems.

The firm is approved to the latest Quality Assurance standard, ISO 9001 2008 and our policy is to continually develop and improve the service we provide to our Clients. Staff regularly attend both in-house and external training seminars and maintain CPD, Continuing Professional Development, to the requirements of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
